Game Camera and Still Hunting rules for Kisatchie NF

My cousin is in NLA for work currently and was asking me about some of the regs. Locals have told him conflicting info and he can't seem to cross a WLF/Ranger to ask.
It appears game camera are legal, does that include cell cameras?
Does still hunting include hunting from a climber/saddle? He was told it had to be on the ground which seems preposterous.
In general, anything to note about KNF to be aware of? Decent size deer?
Any help is appreciated TIA

You don’t have to hunt on the ground. There will be an influx of people when firearm season opens up. Go wherever there’s less people to find deer.

No law against cameras either
Even though I think there should be as it is personal
property left unattended but that’s another topic

One thing about cameras…. I haven’t put any on NF land but my buddy would always set his high up out of people’s view. Most of those areas are close to folks who wouldn’t think twice about picking up your stuff.

For sure. The locals think they run the place

He can use cell cameras.
And he can hunt off the ground.
Someone was messing with him it seems
Yep. Kisatchie is huge. Lots of deer. Some parts get lots of pressure. Other parts you won't see anyone.
My hephew killed a really nice 10 pt this weekend on Kisatchie.
And he can hunt off the ground.

Happens a lot it seems. A few years back some baw printed out a bunch of legit looking "no hunting - area closed" signs and put them on gates. Two years in a row we've had a local in Missouri tell us that DNR was closing the refuge down the next year due to CWD.

He was told he had to hunt off the ground, couldn't use a climber/saddle. Was pretty sure that was BS and confirmed here, thanks.
Appreciate the info fellas. He is hunting the smaller section north of the interstate. I told him Loggy Bayou WMA may be a better area but I think it is further for him.
Thanks again.

Why not Bodcau? The northern areas are less pressured than the southern. I have hunted there 4 out of the last 5 years and love it.

He scouted Bodcau, not sure what part. He said mostly hogs, saw very little deer sign or available browse, possibly due to high water killing everything off it appeared.

We haven’t had high water in awhile. Most of kisatchie is pretty open in the bottoms unless you find where a tornado touched down and sunlight is hitting the ground. The pine areas can be pretty thick depending on when they last burned. Other areas it’s nothing but pine needles.
I haven’t hunted kisatchie for deer but the public hunters like to get right up on our property line and wouldn’t be surprised if some were crossing it. Going there during gun season is a risk I’m not willing to take.
