Who here remembers this place on Airline? Home of the "Louisiana Traveler" boat. I wonder what became of that brand of boat?

He retired and his son-in-law ran if for a while, I believe. Fred used to come into a photo lab where I worked to have pictures developed of duck hunting trips to all type of exotic locations. He was a nice fellow.

Do you remember Ben Peabody's Esso on Scenic Highway? They had an awesome sporting goods sections and was one of the few places in BR you could actually buy hip boots and waders.

My first gun came from there, a crack barrel .410 that I still have. I always enjoyed a visit to that store...

Remember him well. The Ol' Beachcomber liked his Falstaff. He, too, would come into the photo lab where I work. Grump, but nice, old fart.

Remember Jerry Breaux?

I loved going into that store! Had anything and everything, but you paid for it! Got my first baitcasting reel from S'berg's. Still have it: Diawa Millionaire 5H. My folks paid an astounding $45 for this reel!

Worked at both The Sports Shop and Stienbergs back in the day. Mr Fred and his sidekick Velo were fun to be around. Met Hank Jr at the store one morning after a concert the night before. He was a friend of Mr Freds. I'll never forget the item he bought, a hand full of LaCrosse hipboot straps. Funtimes.

My dad would take me there when I was young. I remember them having a polar bear. It was mounted standing upright. That thing was a giant when I was young and looking up at it.

Along with much other drinks driving that old white stationwagon. And yes, I drank with him a few times at Old River.

With the old beat-up bateau strapped to the roof. That old dude probably caught more fish out of that boat than these pseudo millionaires in their $40K (and up) bass/bay boats.

I met Mr Parnell at a DU function on Pecan Island many years ago. Was a hell of a duck hunter and a nice man.
