Not being a contrarian, but looking at these two guns, they’re identical. The Franchi even says benelli on it. Is there a difference significant enough to validate almost double the cost?

FWIW I’ve had a Franchi for a while now and it’s been flawless, but need to get a 3.5” mag version. Wondering if it’s worth the extra $$

FIFY. They aren’t identical due to recoil spring locations. However both are great guns. I still don’t see the need for 3.5” shells though. Even though I’ve owned several 3.5” chambered guns I’ve never once fired a 3.5” shell at a duck, goose, turkey, or deer. I’ve just never felt undergunned with a 3”. Hell 95% of my duck and turkey hunting is done with a 20 nowadays. Buy whichever gun feels best to you as they are both good guns. They don’t feel the same when shouldered though so one is definitely going to feel better when you shoulder it for you personally

I don’t think a Franchi is identical to a Benelli

Benelli features off the top of my head:
Comfortech
Crio barrel
Generally better fit and finish
Performance Shop variants

I have an affinity and a montefeltro. The affinity actually fits me a little better, I think due to the raise rib on the barrel. But after shooting them side by side, the action on the benelli is a little smoother.

Both great guns. Haven’t had the first issue with either of them.

Ultimately, benelli (the company) isn’t going to mind if you purchase the benelli or franchi as they are all owned by the same company, beretta.

As others have mentioned, the main differences are comfortech, action spring in the stock vs forearm, and generally a more polished gun. Whether that’s worth more to you is your decision. I know plenty of folks very happy with both benelli and franchi.

I have both, not enough difference to justify the cost of the Benelli IMO.

Love2bowhunt is right, you WANT 3.5", you don't need it.

Get the Benelli, bought my son a Franchi and had problems with it not ejecting casings properly. Caused him to miss some nice birds. Got him a Super Black Eagle and he loves it. It is a higher quality gun and the action is smoother.

I did send the Franchi in and they repaired it but we have not really used it to find out if it is really fixed.

I shot 3.5 inch in my Benelli for one season. Never again. Ya'll can have it lol. They kick like a mule. If I can't kill it with 3 inch then it won't get killed.

I have a SBE 3 and M2. The action is a lot smoother than my friend's franchi. The franchi is nice, but it is not a benelli. If you buy the franchi you will have wished you had a benelli- buy once, cry once

I have the Franchi with(I believe) the bottom land camo. No tears here! Took it to Canada duck and Goose hunting. No issues with 3" and a few of 3.5" I shot. Screw 3.5" for bird hunting. Maybe for that 1 shot at a turkey but multiple shots are brutal.
