I have never floated the tangi but am attempting to try on sat morning with a buddy. Have been googling all morning and can't seem to tell which bridges are the best to put and take out

we would like to float one of the stretches from tangipahoa to independence.

any advice is appreciated

Do not try to launch in Amite off of highway 16 bridge. The beach access is privately owned and the owners keep a close eye on it. They have been having state police writing tickets left and right for the past 2-3 years.

igchris once recommended me on this board to launch at Hidden Oaks Family Campground in Hammond/Robert and taking out at Lee's Landing. It's about 13 miles. I haven't tried it yet though.

I don't go around there because the river is always dirty and trash everywhere.

we are trying to go further north than there.

We will be shuttling ourselves. More concerned with parking by the bridges than anything

We used to drop in at Cherokee beach (Hwy 442) and float to 190. It's a pretty good float with not a lot of other people and some good beaches.

That's a long time to be sitting in an inner tube

don't waste your time with that. Just throw a small buzzbait or spinnerbait

I will mix it up. more for buddy as he sucks at fishing. hence why we will be in the yaks so i can get away from him. couldn't handle being in the canoe or his flat boat for hours

Serenity Sands will shuttle you for a small fee. We would drop our kayaks off and someone would stay with them. Another would drive the trucks to Serenity Sands to park and they would bring you back to your launch point for like $10. Not sure how far they'll bring you now because back then we used to launch off 16 as another poster said not to do. Arcola isn't too much further.

Tangipahoa to Arcola is a nice float. North of there gets rough with logs. Small crank baits and cheap H&H's is all you need maybe topwater early.

did it for the first time last year. Called into some dude that let us park at the park under the bridge. He drove us up like 10-12 miles and we launched at his house. Costed us like $15

Fishing sucked arse though compared to what we usually do on the upper Amite.

Do it multiple times a year with no issues.

They were on. It was a quick float as we all had plans. Packed light and used two trucks. Probably 50 bass between us and I fished for cats for a while and got 8

Floated from amite to tangipahoa. Water was as clear as I've seen any of the Florida parish streams

Nothing huge. All 1-2 lbs. Fish were hitting white spinner bait and rebel wee craw. 2:1 on chartreuse tail to natural one
