Flip was a banker prior to guiding and I think he did the original loan for Jose to get a boat.
Flip put Hells Bay on the scene and Jose did the same with Conch.
Would have given my left nut to fish with both.

Flip and Glen Lou were the first real story tellers in outdoor television. Before, every once in a great while you may get lucky and see a Curt Gowdy segment on wild world of sports, but make no mistake about it, Flip and Glen pioneered the blueprint for their genre. At least for the better outdoor producers who came afterwords who truly cared about the quality of their production.

Every episode was well written, almost like a novel, and Glen's cinematography was flawless. They were one of the first shows to implement and use helicopters to show the vastness of an area.

Flip and Glen together inspired hundreds of producers who took their format and ran with it. Steve Finch, Jason Miller, Larry Sletten and myself all owe a debt to Flip and Glen.

"I have lived the life of a hunter, and in doing so I have lived my life to the absolute fullest."
Glen Lau

Because there aren't enough quality outdoor producers left who truly understand the art of storytelling, which is what ESPN always demanded of us.

Great stories first, actual killing/catching second.

There are a few shows that still tell a decent story. Heartland Bowhunter is pretty good at it, but I don't know of any on the freshwater fishing side that do.
