Looking for something to take on a small private lake for fishing and other larger lakes. Want it to be able to hold my wife and 2 young kids and be affordable. Should I just get an 18ft alumnium boat? Any particular brands or models to look at?

You can add almost any kind of seat to an aluminum boat. If you are looking for light duty on inland waters, a semi-v aluminum boat is fine. You can also tow kids around on tubes if you want. Light, strong, low horsepower.

Or you could try to show off.
