Over the past couple of days, I've cleaned about 12 sacaulait and 6 bass. Several of each species already had eggs. Has anyone else seen that this early?

Eggs don’t just develop overnight. Takes a few months.

January is overlooked as the prespawn in the deep south because most of us are in the deer stand, but water temps in the 50s are all it takes to get things going. There will be fish on the bed in a month if there’s a few warm days in a row.

I live on a lake in East Texas and extensively crappie fish this time of year. They are always full of eggs this time of year. They become more developed into March/April/May but eggs are there. The is nothing unusual about it. I don't keep and clean bass.

Like that always, after they lay in the spring by end of Summer they start producing the next cycle of eggs. Man I swear some folks must either not fish anything except spawn and summer or they are new to fishing.
