17ft by 50” wide took 2 gallons of rubber coating and 2 quarts of primer that company sells to help the coating adhere to the boat.

Internet says it would add at least 100 pounds. On a small aluminum boat, that isn't nothing.

I know 100 pounds on my 14' aluminum jb is a very big deal.

Not sure of OP's exact boat setup.

Right but what would the weight savings from removing the carpet be? The delta of the two is the true weight added value. I bet it is miniscule.
