Educating Turkeys - Am I overreacting?

Long story short - My father and I called two big gobblers to 35 yards. We got too close, too quick and they surprised us so I didn’t have the chance to set up good. When they walked out I pick the gun up, shot and missed. It was a great hunt but I’m beating myself up over missing.

How hard are those birds going to be to kill now? Should I just move on and find some more birds or go after them again on Friday morning?

Are you the only person hunting your lease are they on the edge of your property? How do you know the birds you go find haven’t been educated by someone who has been calling and missing?
Maybe not overreacting possibly overthinking.
But yeah if you know where some dumb unmollested birds are then go for them.

Turkeys are paranoid creatures. They get spooked almost daily. You can kill that turkey in the same spot this weekend.

Never go somewhere that you aren’t sure has turkeys over somewhere you know has some.

Spooked one 2 weeks ago. Shot him in same spot this morning. He acted almost identically to when he spooked

This is the response I was looking for. I’m gonna give it another go on Friday.

I'd be paranoid too if everything was trying to eat me.

Turkeys are skittish but they are not smart. Remember what they were coming in for to begin with? I would go back after them before someone else shoots them for you.
