It's not a duck?

I seriously doubt it's "way less" than the fastest, even though I didn't say it was the fastest, only the fastest I probably shot. It's not like every duck is going full speed 24/7.

Sorry, but yes, they are ducks. Family = Anatidae. Subfamily = Merginae. Merginae includes Eiders, Scoters etc.

Damn, apparently a pretty rare duck here.
quote:

Their breeding habitat is the taiga. They are found in the lakes and rivers of boreal forests across Canada and the northern United States, Scandinavia and northern Russia. They are migratory and most winter in protected coastal waters or open inland waters at more temperate latitudes.
Hen.

The drake is beautiful.

Dad killed a family of 3 in Kansas last year. Swooped into the decoys, clapped them up, pew, pew, pew, three dead birds. There was a little debate thate it could be a Barrow's Goldeneye, but a true expert can't make the call in alot of cases.

A Thibodaux city councilman is facing federal hunting charges after being ticketed last year for killing nearly 50 ducks, well over the legal limit, sources said.
However, Lloyd "Chip" Badeaux said he shot the birds because they were a nuisance at his friend's home and he doesn't consider them ducks.

quote:

said he shot whistling birds in his friend's front yard while drinking a Coke.

He said Wildlife and Fisheries still consider the birds ducks, even though biologists he talked to do not consider them ducks. "This is not just regular duck.

Copied from the article due to so many ads/pop-ups. "Whistling birds", not ducks, said he.

Wow...Haven't seen one since 1981

If I wasn't a kid and had a clue at the time as to the rarity, I'd have mounted it

Diver. Why shoot it if you can't ID it? Sure isn't any good to eat.
