Anyone here ever hunted in SE Missouri ? I’ve got a hunt booked with my dad the third weekend in January. I’ve gotten a strong recommendation on the guide, but have never hunted there. From everything I’ve read, mallards should be there if it’s not frozen over.

Four of us hunted around Otter Slough Nov. 26-28.

1st day, we got 5 teal in the morning, 3 mallards in the afternoon.

Day 2 morning only saw two birds. That afternoon we limited out in less than an 1-1/2 hours on mostly spoonbills.

Day 3 morning we stayed in since there wasn't anything moving. Afternoon we shot another 14 spoonies before quitting at 3:15.

My cousin hunted with Dirty Rice Outfitters in Kennett last Mon-Tue. They got five specks on Monday & just one duck on Tuesday.

It's been real slow on greenheads and the last report I heard (Sunday), they're still up north of here.

I’ve got an office right down the road from Dirty Rice over in blytheville, AR. The reason I booked January is because of the metric frick ton of mallards I see on side of the roads here in Jan and Feb

My cousin said the food & lodge was great. Overall the hunting in SEMO has been real slow so far. Dirty Rice is in the south zone so you should see a lot of birds if not frozen up.

We killed more ducks in those 3 days than my buddies who live in Dexter shot in the first three weeks of the season.

We (my company) leased a place up there last year for a fair amount of money. The caretaker told us he would let us know when the ducks got there and we could drive up. We never went

Based on what I’ve seen in the past few years, the roadside rice fields will be full of mallards the day after the season ends.

I live a stones throw away from Otter Slough and have several friends that own ground/hunt all around it. Not much killing going on right now. Very slow compared to previous years. Maybe it'll get better by the time you head up.

I driven through there a ton in December and January years past. Always see tons and tons of big ducks. If the weather is right you should do well.
