See Seinfeld... Stereotyping and good characters makes for entertaining TV.
You're comparing apples to oranges. You think the characters on Seinfeld are portrayed in the same light as DD? While Kramer might have an addiction to Kenny Rogers chicken, you have these two dipshits handcuffed together "durr we handcuffed, we gon have to piss and eat attached to each other, dur".

I get all that, but it's funny to me that people in this thread actually believe these guys are standing up for christian values, and believe it's real.
I guess I'm just tired of seeing the south being displayed as a bunch of mouth breathing neanderthals while the rest of the country points and laughs. That's all. Have a good weekend

Certainly people watch the show for the dumbassery. But I think the vast majority of the viewers find it refreshing to have a show that is centered around family values and Christianity. It is a huge part of the appeal. Don seems to disagree. Don is wrong.

Loooong before this silly show ever existed, it has been well known fact that this family has always been a group of caring, charitable devout Christians. Every family that watches this show, has their own reason for watching it. But if you think the vast majority is watching it to make fun of the South, I dont know what to tell you.

Nonsense. You guys are using "christian values" as a weak excuse for watching the lowest brow of television.

You are the worst poster in this thread with you faux-godliness.
Don't worry, though, they own bibles while embarrassing the state.

quote:Interesting,,, at several conventions and business meetings with people from all over the USA,, it's amazing how many want to wait to go out until either after it's over or be back in their room to watch that show that is "embarrassing" our state.
Don't worry, though, they own bibles while embarrassing the state.
Also interesting how many calls i get on Thursday mornings from people from around the country wanting to talk about what happened on the previous nights episode.
Do you have a radar that goes out to you when there is a troll opprutunity on the OB?

Sounds like insecurity.
One man's "mouth breathing neanderthal" is another mans charming and/or unique way of life. Not everyone is as bothered by this as you.
I'm from the South and live elsewhere and the perception isn't nearly as bad as the insecurity you let on. Maybe amongst certain groups (metrosexuals and hipsters) but many people actually enjoy seeing different and unique ways of life, even if some is put on.
Don't be so insecure. Not everyone should live the same way, and not everyone should be judged by the area they live. If you aren't a "backwards redneck" you have nothing to worry about.

I also don't like fools trying to make this their own personal Neo-Conservative Christian Talk. This thread belongs on the TV or Politics Board.

This is about Teague's assault on the good Christian outdoor values we all hold close to our red blooded American hearts.
It stays here.

Just ignore it...
Teague pretty much put the thing in it's current course of direction.

How is it outdoors related? It is about Christianity and television. The OP is clearly about television and religion.

Goddamn it Roger I'd Christian side hug you but we're both agnostics.
