Little Big Horn, I found it solemn, emotional and moving. (ignore the injuns tailgating in the parking lot)

Devil’s Tower, Mt Rushmore, minute man museum, caverns outside of Custer SD.

Montana is awesome, but I've only been in July. All the good Glacier shite is closed.

They made me quit the wild turkey and the nose whiskey, but I hadn’t kicked the whores just yet. In time, perhaps.

Hope to make friends with a good mountain girl up there.

I live in that area part of the year. Glacier is the first recommendation I always make.

Whitefish, Flathead, and Ashley are all awesome. Lots of skiing and hiking in the area. Hunting and fishing if you'd be there longer.

Download Life360 or something similar on your cell phone. Get an AAA membership. One time needing it and it will pay for itself. Drink plenty of liquids. Easy to get dehydrated up there. Monitor the weather conditions before you leave and during your trip. Have adequate survival gear if you break down. ETA: Be prepared to encounter strong winds on the roads up there. They will flip a truck or camper on it's side.

I’ll definitely be back for more action. She’ll work me like a Hebrew slave on this trip I’m sure, but we are gonna ski.

Do not plan on crossing the mountains at glacier park unless its late July/august

Cross winds can be brutal. with a camper I had to stay off the roads a couple times

You need to visit Custer's last stand to fully appreciate how much of an idiot he was

Priest Lake north of Kalispell is neat

Got a ticket for having an empty ice chest in the back of truck in Glacier park, bear issue

Bitterroot valley has some remote great campgrounds around long gone townships

She just sent me the link to the home, it’s actually in Columbia Falls. Looks to be beautiful.

Yeah it definitely is. That's prime access to Glacier too. I'd be planning a return to stay with her this summer if I were you. Insanely beautiful up there.
There's some decent spots to eat/drink in Whitefish while you're there.

She lives in Ruston full time but this is gonna be a vacay home. I’ll definitely plan some summer action up there. I’m gonna ski when I visit this month.

There is a place called Nite Owls in Columbia Falls that has really good food. Not fancy but where the locals eat. Hungry Horse is the town that joins Columbia falls and you should check out the Hungry Horse Dam. 564’ concrete dam on the South Fork of the Flathead river. It’s pretty incredible. If you take highway 206 out of Columbia falls it will lead you down to the area I have circled which is the Blasdel Waterfowl Production Area. Really neat place to drive all the cross roads that lead through that are especially the roads that follow the river. Lot of wildlife there this time of year. Elk will come down out of the mountains this time of year and feed in the fields off of Hwy 206 and Hwy 35 that leads through Creston. This is a very short trip from Columbia Falls and nice to drive if you like viewing wildlife.

This photo was taken in that area.

Definitely drive into Glacier National Park they will maintain the roads to Lake McDonald and Apgar village.

Lake McDonald.

Stop when you get tired and Make the trip enjoyable by exploring along the way. Don’t have a driving straight through mindset. That’s when bad shite happens. And as others have said, keep an emergency kit with you.

I drove to Montana twice to hunt. Swore I’d never do it again. I wanted to stop halfway but was outvoted by the other 3 guys. Absolutely miserable to drive 32-36hrs straight.

If it is open. Many Glacier lodge and anything else in Glacier NP. No place like it in the US. Makes Yosemite look like Central Park.

Lots of good information these last few posts and overall. You guys really have got a handle on the type of things I’m trying to see and do while also keeping an eye on my time.

Upvotes for all. Hope to have some cool pictures when I’m done.
