There is a deal at a gun shop in Lincoln for $399 for it. Just wondering if this gun is any good and if it's worth the money.

I had one right before the sandy hook shootings. Sold it after for 1500. Wasnt a bad gun, I had a 2x7 redfield on it. Pretty accurate and fun to shoot.

the parts on it are worth 399 or close to it.

I have one it’s very accurate for a $400 AR . Trigger is trash

Cheapest you can really get an AR with transfer fee is about $375 or so. So it’s a good price I’d say

For a little more money, a Ruger AR556 or S&W M&P15 sport are a better deal. More solidly built, better accessories, better manufacturer, and better barrel than what the DPMS brings to the table.

I have two. They are fine

My son bought one a few months back. Not bad for the money. and like stated above the trigger is garbage IMO as well.

My Colt AR was in a car wreck a few years ago, and the Lower got cracked at the Magazine receiver.
I replaced it with a DPMS lower, and it has worked fine with no issues.
I guess the trigger isn't great, but I hardly notice that anymore.

Why don't you swap the trigger from the colt with the cracked lower to the DPMS lower?

I had considered doing that, but I intend to get a Colt lower pretty soon anyway.
It really doesn't bother me too much anymore, now that I've gotten used to it.
Hell, I've got several rifles that could use some trigger work, but I'm the type that never does anything like that, I just deal with it.

The lower is really not the part that matters on an AR. It’s not the part that receives most of the wear and it’s hard to mess up.
A rifle built on a DPMS lower and a complete DPMS rifle are very different things. The heart of an AR in terms of quality is all in the upper - bolt carrier group, barrel, handguard, optics. The lower doesn’t matter as much although having a good trigger plays a big part.
And for what it’s worth, anyone with a mil-spec trigger still in his/her AR is in the dark. There are numerous affordable options around $100 or under. There is zero reason to not have even a mid-grade trigger in your rifle.

Of course it's not, but since everything else came from Colt, and was damn expensive back in the 80s when I bought it, I would prefer that it be all Colt.

I guess I should’ve directed my message more to the OP than to you...
I agree keeping everything genuine Colt is ideal. My reply was directed to the OP about getting a complete DPMS rifle as opposed to just a lower.
