Doing a CC class soon. Need to start looking at pocket 380s

I don't plan on using a holster; I would much rather one of those small 380s the size of my iPhone that I can just keep in my pocket. I haven't been shopping around yet, but wanted to get some suggestions of what brands/models I should be looking at. Trying to stay under $500

You better get a pocket holster

Ruger LCP, it gets a lot of hate on here, but I like mine. What ever you get, buy one of the pocket holsters just to break up the outline.

At the least, get a holster designed for in-the-pocket wear. An uncovered trigger is much easier to hit than you think.
Ruger LCP
S&W Bodyguard
Kahr P380
Sig P238 (prob over that budget)
Despite what others will say, stay away from Bersa and Taurus. Some people get lucky, but for the most part, they are unreliable junk.

I bought a Ruger LCP 380 with the pocket holster. I like a bigger caliber but use it for quick trips to store or if im wearing non belted shorts as it isnt heavy and pulls down on one side.

Well yea. I meant I didn't want a belt holster. I want it in my pocket

Just curious for the RugerLCP haters- why does it get hate?

LCP has poor sights, supposedly hard to shoot well.
I have a Kahr P380. Great sights, but expensive.
Surprised they havent come out with a CM version yet.

They just introduced a CW380 at shot show. Should be available any day now. MSRP is like $417.
I just prefer not to get the first batch of a new gun series. Let them work out any kinks they may have then I'll maybe check that one out in a year or two.

It does take some practice with it, and you aren't going to thread a needle with it at 100 yards. However, in a situation that I feel warrants me pulling a gun to defend myself the assailant is probably going to be pretty damn close.
Eta: it=LCP

Well I hope I'm one of the lucky ones, b/c I just bought a TCP a couple weeks ago. Haven't had the chance to fire it yet. I did my research though, and it seems the vast majority of the complaints were with the A and B series. By most accounts they have all the kinks worked out now with the C series (C in serial number). And the Taurus had some features I liked more than the LCP (slide locks back on last shot, better trigger, and felt better in my hand). It was also a little cheaper and easier to find, but that didn't sway my decision.

only negative with mine is sights.. but who needs great sights for self defense.. and long trigger pull... which is long... but very very smooth. the gun is very accurate to my suprise also in such a small gun. its not a fun gun to take to the range and shoot becaus its small and will wear your hand out. and the slide doesnt stay open after the last round. these are the negatives you will hear but they are nit picking
