3 year old collie/Rottweiler mix.
Went for several walks yesterday, went outside in the middle of the night was fine. This morning when I went to take him out he couldn't stand up. His front right and back right legs were unable to coordinate/move with the rest of his body. If I picked him up, he fell back over. His paws on the right side were curling under and he wasn't putting them down flat. It's almost as if the brain wasn't communicating to that side of the body. He doesn't seem to be in any pain. I can move his legs and they all seem fine, along with bend them. He doesn't yelp or cry if I move his legs either. Any idea on what may be happening?

Current status: Took him to ER, they are gonna do an MRI and spinal tap tomorrow. Blood work today to determine if that's all necessary.

Could be a tick. I’ve heard of partial paralysis from just one.

Did you check him for ticks? I had a dog that was paralyzed one morning and the vet plucked the tick and she got better that day.

I don’t know but keep hope. My dog had an injured back and couldn’t walk. The vet said 3k+ surgery or he would probably never walk without wheels again. Told me it’s ok to put the dog down because it would be special needs and a ton of work. We kept him caged and immobile and did meds. I had to come home from work at lunch every day for a couple of months to put him in his wheels and let him piss. It was a pain but that guy is back to running and jumping. We went hiking this past weekend. You never know. I might have been tempted to put mine down but a coworker shared his story of getting a dog back to walking after a bad back injury.

Interested to know the results. I have heard a lot about the tick issue. One of the OB vets explained it a while back.

Hope your pup gets better man.
