We are going to change our kitchen/ backyard door to out swing so we are replacing the door. We'd like to add a dog door for a 70lb golden retriever.

Any recommendations on doors or doggie doors or anything?

I have just a Petsafe brand that we got from Amazon

It’s the xl. It on our screened-in porch. Had it for 3-4 years now. Had to replace the flap but that’s it and it was easy.

Just get one that locks so you do not have some critter coming in in the middle of the night.

Pet safe from Amazon here too. I had it installed in the brick wall because of my French doors.

Pretty sure that's what I have. It gets dirty as hell but I doubt that's avoidable. Has been fine after 5 years...and closes well

Agree with the concept but most locks on these doors suck

Don't know what kind my sister has but her door locks by sliding a panel into the slots. Seems pretty easy and effective to me

That sounds solid but most are just cheap and flimsy.

Petsafe brand

Just installed a new one and got one of these with 2 flaps. I have had a couple others that only had the one flap and this one is night and day better. The only this is the minimum depth on the petsafe is much deeper than the others. We have it installed in a storm door and not the main door so I had to be conscience of clearance when both doors are closed. It fit but just by a hair.

I did this one just for the 2 flaps in an attempt to keep the skeeters out.
