now that TSB is for 2009 4wd trucks with teh allison...I'm trying to find out if that may still apply to some 2008 models...

so it may not be the simple fix...

just got word...It definitely is not a serpentine belt issue...09 has a different more sensitive TCM...that would not be on your 08...sorry bro...it isn't the easy cheap fix...

The easiest thing to do with a tuner/programmer is increase the boost of your turbo or turbos. Increasing the boost of a forced induction engine can increase your efficiency and power.

Increasing boost does the opposite to MPG. The more boost used, the more fuel it needs to make up for the added air induction. The highway modes do not increase boost, they change fuel/ignition timing maps to be more efficient. All turbo motors whether they are diesel or gas run very very rich from the factory to help prevent detonation. Smooth those maps out and you instantly have way better MPG.

Are we still on diesels? In a diesel detonation is a good thing. It's what makes then work.

I woulda offered, but well.....you know. Say hey to my truck when you are there. Gonna try and get a reman long block for it on Monday

3 engines later it still isn't running

Eta: I wanted to add that they are a good bunch of guys over there. Haven't even charged me for swapping all 3 of those engines, just the original. Also have been adamant about not letting me take it until the truck is 100%

Saved me a tow truck charge.
He didn't want any money. I made him take some because I know it's expensive to feed that beast.

so did you check the TCM and connections and under the loom?

what about the fuel filter?

If it's the transmission and not the TCM issue...there is an awesome guy in Kinder, La that builds a strong allison...

I looked at the TCM and couldn't see where anything looked to be missing or cut.

We were kinda in a hurry so I didn't want to take up any more of his time looking at the fuel filter.

I didn't realize how bad off I was from being in the hospital 10 days. . Just loading up the truck and getting it tied down wore me out. I came home and took a nap.

I was taking it to the shop anyway since I was in no condition to be working on anything.

I'll let you know what they find out tomorrow.

I've mentioned the different "droning" sound coming from the exhaust towards the engine since getting it back. I listened to it today and it is definetly noticibly different sounding than before.

Who knows.
