It happens. Back in the late 80's my pop caught one that went the length of the ice chest in oak river. If I can find the pic I'll post it.

Also caught my first tagged Red today

Awesome! Be sure to call the 1-800 number on the tag and give them as much information as you can. There is only a 7% recature rate on reds we tag statewide, so the data is valuable to them.

about to call. I took weight, length and girth measurements before cleaning him so hopefully it will help somehow in the research.

Perfect! They are going to want to know location of the catch, but that's the piece most don't want to give.

Its a LDWF tag. Just called and left them a message but I'm sure they're off today. And I don't see why anyone wouldn't want to tell them location of the fish caught.

gotcha. These crazy weather swings have the fish confused as hell though I can tell ya. They don't know where they need to be. Deep, hanging on drop offs, shallow.
Trouts be all like mayne?

Help me out, where is Oak River?

I'm going somewhere tomorrow.

Only been to Delacroix once.

By the way, we caught a 21" trout at DeCade a month ago. That was nice...

There is a belief (not by you thank goodness) that the location will be shared, and a "honey hole" will be revealed. VERY UNTRUE!

Will check by notebook when I get home for the very slim chance this is one of my tags. If it is I'll get back to you and share info.

I caught one years ago in Yellow Cotton Bay on the grass beds that was just shy of 27" and really fat. Wish to this day I'd weighed it, but that was in the heyday down there, when we usually imposed an 18-20" minimum on ourselves so the day wasn't over in an hour.

I did the same on Monday. And my mom crashed the boat into a piling and tore up some fiberglass

ETA: oh, and she lost my spud pole overboard
