I'd honestly prefer to not do business with Academy or Dicks when it comes to guns. Dicks is too expensive, and I always get the vibe from Academy that they're not really sure if they are allowed to sell guns or not. I was looking at a shotgun there once, and said I'd like to buy it, and both of the guys at the gun counter just kind of froze and looked at each other like they didn't know what to do. Then, with as serious as they handled the 4473, you'd think that a laser beam would destroy the store if someone used the wrong color ink.

Not to mention that most of those assclowns can't tell you anything useful about anything they sell.

The visceral pro-gun/ant-gun movement aside, this is a smart business decision for Dick's.

I get that. Its just a shame that it is deemed "necessary" to provide symbolic gestures in our society that have no substance to them. They are just for show.

This was a pr move to improve their bottom line, the retailers that don't follow suit will be demonized by the media.

WTF, do they not know what the kid used in this situation? WHy all they AR hate?

Do you know what gun he used? Serious question.

And yes, no more shopping at Dick's for this guy. I wasn't even aware that the BR store had guns

I actually bought an 870 from dicks in BR last year. Academy was out of stock and dicks was close. The people there had no idea what they were talking about.

I don't have an Academy where I live, but Dicks is right down the road. I stopped in there back in September and wandered around the gun counter and the bow aisle for about an hour and not one of the 2 guys back there ever said a word to me. The gun counter and the bow aisle are 10 feet apart. They did have quite a few guns, and most of them were overpriced AR's, so their counter is now more than half empty.

Apparently not. Everything I read said the AR was in the trunk, but after reading on here some there are as many stories as there are new outlets.
