I have a built-in Cal Flame Grill. I want to give it a deep cleaning by taking some if apart (soaking if need be) and clean out some of the parts, also drip pan, etc.. I feel like the flames arent burning like they have previously, and this might be due to build up. Anyone have experience in doing this that can share some wisdom?

Can’t you just buy new burners?

Take it apart and see what it would take to replace the burners and some of the internal parts. That may save yourself a lot of time & effort. Otherwise, you can put a wire brush on a drill and go to town, hit it with a pressure steam gun as you go.

I cleaned my grill yesterday and saw the temp rise to 600. Hasn’t done that in a while. Always maxed out around 480. Good thing for me it wasn’t the burners. Just an accumulation of drippings and a light brushing took care of it. I left the surfaces unscratched and left the residue on the surfaces. Cooked ribeyes later and they came out great. Good luck

I just cleaned my Weber Genesis.

The burners were starting to go and I replaced them with new warrantied ones.

I wire brush and putty knife on the inside works wonders.

Sodium hydroxide my friend.

Don't get it on your hands/wear gloves, glasses and obviously cut it with water.

Your welcome.

This is one place where I'm really thankful for my Green Egg. Light that sucker and let it clean itself with the high heat til it burns itself clean. I remember having to clean our gas grill and always hated that job. I did like the other guy suggested and usually just ended up replacing the burners bc they weren't expensive

That is a fancy word for oven cleaner. Just get a can and spray it on per the directions for cleaning ovens. Do not get the type that says "low fumes" or anything like that, though.
