Joists are 14ft. Supports at 7ft, so 7 ft spans at the longest. 24in spacing.

I’m sure I’m busting code left and right. I’m out in the country and I did minimal research. Just did what I thought would be sturdy and last a while, while not over doing it.

Updated the OP, we worked hard Saturday trying to get it roofed. Ran outta daylight, but we got enough done. Was able to host the in laws, and my maw maw rode over on her golf cart. Was a really good day. Was able to hang out and cook for folks, something I haven’t done since we moved onto the family land. Was a good day baws, pretty happy with the effort put into this one.

We initially only had about a 3 inch drop on the roof pitch. I made us set the pitch so low because I thought it would be cramped. The first picture from Saturday (before Mother’s Day) is the original pitch. I hated it and worried about draining after a small rain rolled through. Luckily the way we built it, we were able to lower the entire roof in the front. Took us an extra hour or 2 to make it right, but we dropped the front down another 4 inches. 7 inches for 14ft should be plenty pitch. South LA, no snow issues and I have no mature trees close to the house.

Also, why is your electric service now out on the porch?

It’s not connected to the porch. That was there before the project started. It won’t be noticeable once I enclose the deck

thank you---I'm about to build a similar deck off the grid so your "blue print" is perfect. Were you able to find true 14' deck boards?

No, I bought 16' deck boards. The deck boards actually ran a little longer than 14', so 16ft boards worked well. I should have planned a little bit better, because I probably have a good $100+ in easily avoidable scraps. We will pile em up and hopefully someone can use them.

Man, I love your project and can tell you enjoy the process. But putting the tin on that thing shouldn’t have took more than a couple of hours, if you were all by your lonesome

Putting the tin on it was the easiest part, framing is the most time consuming. Same when building the deck. Laying deck boards go quick once they are cut. It's everything else that seems to take forever. Should be done with the roof Sunday. I need an extra set of hands getting the tin up safely. Ole man told me he was fishing Saturday. I was like, "all day?" He said, "Yep"... Touche
