but the courts obviously do not agree since he was convicted of a crime
Jails are full of wrongfully convected inmates. Too often we see innocence proven years later so that doesn't mean squat, necessarily.

I think people who walk around with AR's on their shoulder are asking for trouble (right or not) but the video clearly showed the cop was lying. Why lie if you're "right"? You don't.

Due to shitty satellite internet, I can only watch the first couple of minutes, but from those couple of minutes it appears that two idiots met on a country road.

I'm not cop, but shouldn't that fat donut eating POS have approached a man he felt "threatened" by a little more cautiously and asked him to disarm himself so he could inspect the weapon and ensure a safe environment? As opposed to strutting up to a man and grabbing his rifle?

It's not overboard, that cop was acting like a jack booted thug not a public servant and I have little tolerance for fascism whether its wearing a swastika or a badge with "Police" written on it.

And the fricking fact that a jury sided with the cops only shows how far toward lemminghood our society has gone.

And this is well said.

Read the link a posted and you'll find out that guy is a grade A attention seeker IMO.

I read the entire article. I have to honestly say it was a biased hatchet job from start to finish. The author downplayed every aspect presented by the defense as baseless and heralded every aspect from the prosecution as if it were scripture.

The guy is a fame loving douche. I know he is not the type I would ever invite to a fish fry. I don't care for his smugness or smart mouth.

That said, the cop initially lied about taking the gun. He snatched at it without warning. He then put in his report he asked for it and was refused. That's not a whoopsie; that's a big fricking deal.

If the hiking douch would have behaved cordially none of this would have happened, in my opinion. However, the cops were absolutely out of line with the snatching of the rifle and then lying in the report.

If he hadn't of made the video the report wouldn't have been amended. The cop would go with his version of the story and railroad the douch.

I assume you are talking about the cop who just decided to ignore the law and do whatever he wanted?

Walking with a rifle of that size down a public highway is kind of different, it was like he was asking for someone to report him.

While we are at it, mr freedom was just convicted in court. So a jury wasn't impressed with him either.

Oh, wow I wish I was on that jury. he would have walked. He has every right to sue. I dont wish ill will on the officers them selves personally but stuff like this needs to be all over the news and they should be diciplined and the county, city, state sued. Why would a cop come and put his hands on someone's gun like that? That cop was going to make an example of this guy no matter what he did.

The audio was horrible so I couldn't make out what was said. I did see the subject reach for the rifle and that would force me to act. On the other hand I would not have touched his rifle if I were the officer. I have no problem with open carry but only a fool would touch the weapon while talking to police. That guy is a moron

my only point is this particular guy shouldn't be the poster boy we use to support that right. IMO, people who act like him hurt the cause more than help it.

Amen! It is like a stereotypical stoner fighting for legalization. These types aren't helping anything. Calm, educated, and assertive will eventually win.
