Using for deer hunting less than 60 yards. PSE any good? Saw some Excalibur models around $500 too.
I'm not spending $1K on a Ravin.

Where are you located? I have an extra Excalibur 380 with bolts, etc., that I bought for my Dad and he’s never used.

I'm not saying that the CenterPoint Sniper is a great crossbow but had one delivered to my doorstep for $289.00. The crossbow came with scope, strap and blots. The CP is accurate however has a very loooong trigger pull and is a bit heavy. We have a good time with it in the backyard. I wouldn't think twice about using it in the woods.
Flew out to Texas to a friend's bow hunt only lease didn't want the hassle of bringing my CP crossbow. He let me use his Barnett something something 380. Super accurate with a very nice trigger.
The trigger rivals anything I have ever touched. I have a couple polished triggers, couple Geissele SSA's & other adjustable triggers as well. Hard to argue with a Barnett off the shelf.

Are you also budgeting for bolts, heads and lube?
Some models of crossbow require specific bolts to maintain the warranty.
For the best value, it's hard to beat Wicked Ridge. It is the budget brand made by Ten Point which is a leader in the market and all made in USA. Avoid the cheap Asian made brands at all costs.
I was able to find a great deal on ebay for my Invader 400, but you can still get the X4 for $400 at Cabela's.
Happy Hunting

Buy a Centerpoint then upgrade to Victory Decimator bolts, and use Slick Trick crossbow broadheads. You wont be disappointed in the accuracy or the price.
Check them out on Amazon.

Here's another vote for Wicked Ridge. I don't think you can find a better crossbow for the money. If you check the tenpoint website I believe they currently have some great deals on certified used ones. I have an older cheap one that has been rock solid for several years with no issues.

I also have a centerpoint cp400 that i've been happy with. It's a very fast bow with a good scope, but it has a heavy trigger pull. They say its a clone of the Ravin R10 with the limbs and pully system being the same or similar, but everything else being of cheaper quality/cost. They are both owned by the same parent company. You can find these on sale from time to time for a little over $500.

I also have an Excalibur Matrix G340 that i've been very happy with. It's one of their cheaper models and you can get them for right at $500 or under. Excalibur's are generally louder than compound crossbows, but not by a lot and in my opinion are more foolproof. And you can change / re-string them yourself.
Good luck!
One thing to add, almost all of these are going to be extremely accurate. When sighting them in, you may want to aim at a slightly different bullseye because if you're shooting a 3 shot group, you can easily robin hood them and ruin a bolt.

I also really like having the compact storage of the draw rope on the bow itself. I wouldn't get one with a crank, but that might just be personal preference.
