Does anyone have any experience or know how/why people are selling brand new cordless tools on FB marketplace? Are they stolen, just unused, or is it a trap to rob you?

I’ve always wandered the same thing. There’s a guy in Slidell here that has several different brands all “brand new.” I think they may buy bulk or fire sale then flip them. Prices are t far from what you’d pay in the store, besides maybe paying tax. Only downside I can think of is no returns and you won’t be getting any sort of warranty through the tool company because you are not the original purchaser; such as Ridgid has a lifetime guarantee you won’t be getting.

They are probably stolen. Big box stores don't stop people from stealing anymore, so people freely do it

This is my guess.

They buy the big box stores out when the kits go on sale for a couple hundred bucks off and then flip them.

I cant' attest to power tools, but I'll warn everyone about appliances, lights, mini-blinds, light bulbs, etc. stay clear. I have a client that had a large volume of items stolen by an employee. Happens every year about this time.

Could also be counterfeits. I read an article not too long ago about Europe being flooded by counterfeit tools, Chinese knock-offs of every major brand filling shipping containers. I'd expect it's possible here.

Many are stolen, purchased with stolen cards or purchased and bartered for drugs. The sellers have usual customers that they offer them too via txt msg first and if don’t have any takers, they’ll put them up on Craigslist or Facebook. The last stop is the pawn shop.
