My first class I took from a guy up in Clinton. He has a small range behind his house out on Hwy 10. After the class was over he let a few of us shoot his full auto M16. I believe the guy passed a few years ago. It was a pretty kick arse class.

Precision started allowing people to shoot AR's on the pistol range -- and they allow these people to uncase their long guns behind the firing line. It's pretty hard to not get swept when three dudes show up together w/ AR's and uncase them on the little wooden benches.
anyone know of a 1/2 day renewal class in the area?

I'm so thankful that a few weeks ago I decided to actually go into the range that's around a half mile from my house. 12 bay indoor range. Feels very secure with significant dividers between bays. I thought it would be too expensive to regularly shoot there, but got in as a member with a New Year's deal. I hate feeling like someone near me isn't as safety conscious as me.
I'm in Texas where constitutional carry is allowed, but even took my LTC class yesterday with the range since there are benefits. Half day. Was half day when I took it in LA as well.
Is it really that long now? I felt like the one I originally took in LA was nothing.

9 to 9.5 hours
its pretty ridiculous
the sensible thing to do would be to break it up into 2 classes:
1) handgun basics and handgun safety
2) rules of engagement
that way, renewals could be just part 2 plus the shooting. i dont want or need to sit thru the first part for the 3rd time

Yeah, they need to have a renewal class that covers topics more advanced than how a revolver and semi-auto work.

It's a class and a fee. Even with lifetime, you still have to take refresher classes.

Problem with permitless carry around here is that many businesses will put up "no unlicensed weapons", but have no issue with licensed. Or at least not enough to put up the appropriate sign that would restrict it. Plus there's the reciprocity in other states.
