Anyone been lately? Heading down this weekend and curious how’s it been and what to use.

Tides are not optimum this coming wknd.
Westerly winds all last week had things stirred up a little around the island, definitely not as ideal as they were 2 wks ago. And the clean water we found Saturday had shrimp boats passing constantly.
Had action all day, but managed only 30 keepers.

Thanks. I’ll be heading down Sunday and fishing through wed. , so not necessarily the weekend but close enough. Of the ones you caught were they on live shrimp or artificial? I tend to prefer artificial if I can get away with it

Artificial. Under a cork and straight lining. None on topwater. I bought 100 live shrimp and we caught 1 keeper out of 30 on live bait
Of course the shrimp were dead way before noon w aeration and ice cubes.

We did not catch any on Last Isle last weekend, saw a few caught at Enstar - (9 boats around pilings - only one was catching)
I don't know whats up. All my logs from previous years have us catching all of June - Either the late freeze we had or the HOT water temps (89 degrees at island last week) have the trout scattered.
Good Luck

Definitely the winter freezes
Went below freezing on 4 different occasions, one time 4 straight days, including snow on the island
People were ticketed for having more than possession limit in the marsh for retreiving dead specks by boat w/o a rod and reel even in the boat. LOL
