It would be cool to have, but there's too many other guns I rather get first.

I certainly understand why you would be reluctant to give an interview, just to have it twisted on a broadcast. But don't you think that people should hear a point of view that's opposite of all the talking heads on the big networks?

Your posts on here on gun rights are very well thought out and very clear. I think you'd be a great person to have as a counterpoint to the anti-gun narrative.

There are literally people out there who don't know the difference between a .223 and an aircraft round. People just need to be educated.

I definitely thought a lot about that aspect after hanging up. The general consensus on the FFL board I am on is to pretty much not do interviews for obvious reasons. But, at the same time if no one gives interviews then our view is under supported. Then again, if your original words or statements are going to get skewed into something else, taken out of context and not make it out the way you intended during the interview then it doesn't really help at all anyway. So, I don't know.

no, you probably did the right thing, because if they want to push a point across, they will.

If you were to attempt to educate them on how the 223/556 isn't as large as the 30.06, you might see your words being used to justify banning everything larger than 22lr.

That really sucks, the local news used to be far more outdoor friendly; I rememeber "the old beachcomber" and segments like that.

Media-wise, we really need to find more guys like Hickok45. His calm, relaxed, gentle "grampa" demeanor is so comfortable and non-threatening (and non-scary), that guys like him can still reach mainstream Americans.
It's not the extremists that need to be educated and informed, they have their own agenda.

The people we need to reach are the soccer moms, people like that; gals like that have little idea what any guns or calibers do. They're justifiably concerned about their kids and the world they will raise them in, and they are trying to make informed decisions about safety. They can't make that decision getting just one side, and right now, you don't want the pro-gun side coming across as scary. We have to resist the temptation to hole up and isolate because we are being called "extremists/fanatics", we need to be out in the mainstream, where the gun question is being debated.

Soccer moms shop at Academy and Dicks, that's where they get sporting equipment for the kids, and workout cloths for the yoga classes etc. It seems like a place you can make inroads, show people that we are all in the same place.

I've had an influx of this demographic in my CC classes and I try my best to give them some basic knowledge on the AR15.

One thing I do really push hard is capacity of magazines and why they are arbitrary and based on the size of the gun. I show them videos on Active Self Protection of criminals being shot 5 times and still being able to run 200 yards. They usually get the point at least on that part alone.
