Whats your opinion on fishing these areas in a 17ft aluminum bass boat?

Perfect boat for it IMO. I wish I had a small boat to fish the area. We use to go into Penchant all the time but I don't want to take a 22 ft bayboat through the weirs.

Minors is the canal that connects Decade and Penchant

I have no clue how to get there from Bayou Black. Decade is 5 minutes from Falgout.

People's is the one that connects Decade and Penchant and Minors is the one that runs parallel to it (to the E) and connects Decade to Lake Theriot.

Can you get back there in a 17' Bass Tracker, and if so, when are we going?

I think so. I never go that far back. I fish the mouth of Minors to the first camp and then head back out and hit Peoples. I fish People's all the way through the jetty and then run through Penchant and fish up towards Gibson. I'm more of a bass fisher though.

When they are on, you can't believe there are that many fish down there. We got on them on topwater one morning and it was unbelievable.

Other times you can't buy a strike.
