Always buy the best gear you can afford. If you can swing a citica, get it.

actually, if you are not fishing from a boat, a 7' rod is pretty sweet...my friends and I used to fish in the surf quite a bit and I bought a 7 footer...they laughed until they saw how far I could cast with it...I could rare back and throw a couple of sparkle beetles damn near out of sight...

I'm thinking I'll be doing mixing and matching with an all-star rod:

The C3

The Citica, is:
Model Gear Ratio Weight
CI200G5 5.5:1 7.5
CI200G6 6.5:1 7.5
CI200G7 7.0:1 7.5

Which one of these three?

Also, any other recommendations?

I don't think I will be too much, it seems like it would be an ideal length for me

G6 would be good all around. G7 might be a little better if you'll be fighting reds a lot and want to get in slack line quicker, or for pulling bass out of heavy cover. G5 would be better for crankbaits. Most my reels are around the G6 gear ratio though, I'd go with that if you're going for versatile.

FWIW I prefer a 7' rod even in a boat.

I agree a 7footer is fine in a boat.
