I always just get cheap sunglasses.

I spend good money on TP and my kitchen trashbags though. Truly the best marginal dollar you can spend in life!

No not in every case, but with costas you are getting quality and with $9.99 jiffy mart specials you are getting shite. The glasses don't cost more than the jiffies just because they have a name on the side.

I get the UV protection but I don't care if it has a designer name on the side. The fish and deer don't care.

I buy a $50 pair of Native and they do me just fine, and they work perfectly. I can't see any situation where I would get any more benefit for paying $150 extra.

I have had a pair of Bill Dance $15 glasses for 5 years. During that period I have lost a pair of ray bans, maui jims, and costas. fml.
I've got a go-to pair that's over 10 years old! Funny how I can keep rack of the cheap ones, but I've lost several ray bans.

I have had Costa's for years, my eye doc talked me into a pair of Maui Jim's a few months back, and I actually like them better. It feels blasphemous to say that, but they really are great. Either brand is easily worth the money and effort to look after them if you spend much time outside or on the road.

have tried on Maui Jim's and they are top notch for sure, also a little more expensive than CDM I've found in most cases. get what you pay for

Let's all face the fact, maui Jim's are better than Costa.

Hell I lose shite all the time. Lost probably 20 pairs of cheap glasses. I got a pair of costas about 15 months ago and haven't misplaced them yet

I have 2 pairs of Maui Jims, but my favorites were built but EyeMasters in some sunglass frames they carry. Polarized, and I can see as far in the water with them as the MJ's. Much better frames for my head/face.

I have expensive tastes roger.
You probably don't feel the same way about other gear you own though.

Depends on the gear. I am rough on stuff, and am not going to pay $200 for sunglasses that $50 will do exactly the same for me. I haven't kept a pair of serviceable sunglasses for over a year, ever. Other stuff? Yeah, I pay for quality though, not a brand.

Some brands are the leader in quality.

Arcteryx
Osprey
Marmot
Black Diamond
Mountain Hardwear......all very expensive, have that name (for a reason) and it's typically synonymous with high
quality. I know what you mean though. I wasn't very specific.

Yeah, the building next door has this place... Foggy Mountain Shop and buy some of my stuff local instead of ordering online. Pay a little more but I know the folks who own it. They sell quality stuff and can get pretty much anything I need. I was an old REI gearhead from way back.
