Cheap Privacy Plants/Fence

I’ve priced the typical wooden privacy fence but am curious if anybody has tried some other type of fence or what options there are out there as far as what type of plants and time table for them to grow?
Does not have to be a nice fence or nice bushes, this is just for a rental property to block out view of terrible place next door.

red tip photinias work well, but I can't really speak to growth rate.

Wam-Bam fence is relatively cheap and super easy to install. It’s vinyl and no dig.
