I'm looking to go out to the Chandeleur Islands in the next couple of months on an overnight charter with 3-4 friends.

First, is it worth it this time of year?

Second, can anyone recommend a charter service for the trip? Most of the ones I see require 10 people. I may be able to put 6 together.

TIA.

I wouldn't go past Mid-October. I recommend DMJ Charters, but you will need 12 people. The captain does do some open trips and I think he has 6 openings for a trip he has in October. Check out his facebook page.

I recommend Captain Dean Gladney

Fish and eat like a king. Just bring your own booze.

fished off the Compass Rose in August. Owner just bought it. Crew was nice and accommodations were best I've had out there

. Launches out of the Golden Nugget marina which is nice cause you can park your truck under the Casino and its out of the weather.

this is the other group I fished with:

older boat and not as nice as the Compass Rose. But the crew was older and more fun. Everyone does the same shite so its not like one charter company out-fishes the other. Catching is all up to you. FTR, fishing was slow the August weekend we went, but the crew said spring and fall are the better months. don't see how you're gonna get around paying for 12 people, though. That's what the boats are set up for.
At least these types of boats.

You might want to contact someone out of Venice for something smaller

I think Theophile can fly you out there for a day trip.

Im going mid-October. Staying on the Pelican. With the warmer temps lingering it should be a good trip.

More DIY than the other outfits

*I've fished the chain a good bit, but never during October. Colder months are usually pretty insane for sight fishing redfish out there though. Bringing the fly rod along in the event of slow speck bite.

Jokas Wild always a good time. But you need a full crew of 12 .
