OP, I use shrimp exclusively for mangroves

Does shrimp have to be in a seperate well as the croaker? I havent fished much with live shrimp.

maybe i need to install a "po pierre"?? on the dock then:

The few times I have had a small pinfish from cast netting, it has produced a nice trout or bull red.

I don't fish mangroves.

Do you know what the preferred bait is for these pinfish traps?

nope, from what i was reading, people were using "chum Blocks" in a sack, maybe a fish carcus as well to eat on.

you will need to do a major overhaul on your dock before adding that or make ben take care of it

this is the way to go, but you need good water flow

I had a feeling this was coming.....
That's what March is for: bad fishing, good beer, and a little work.

its preferred but I've kept them both in same livewell with no issue as long as aerated and kept cool. I like to throw a frozen waterbottle in live well during summer to keep water cool without affecting salinity

Shrimp are tougher than croakers and we usually throw whats left of them for trout on the way back in.

I had the best luck with a few pogeys cut in half. Before our water got so fresh via closure of the MRGO I used to catch cocahoes, pinfish, and croakers in a standard round minnow trap. The larger rectangular traps never did quite as good for me.

I know this is an old thread, but did anyone have luck with their pinfish trap?
