Popped a line and tied it off but of course it came undone. Any ideas on making a permanent repair?
Thinking about using a crimp but can’t heat shrink it.

How attached are you to said cast net?
When mine got hung up I tore a football sized hole in the netting getting it loose. I used some mono to patch it, but on my next trip to town I just trashed it and bought a new one.

They’re just a tool but losing one line isn’t the end of the world.
Holes pretty much make them useless and they hit the garbage can.

Headed out to one of our holes next to a control structure and a dude was fixing his net because a gar got caught up in it before we arrived. He had been there maybe 10 minutes or so, and his net was damaged and he was repairing it. We were there for some pogey and ended up catching 50lbs of big shrimp. My buddy threw the net, I separated the shrimp from the pogeys, and there were a lot of pogeys. The dude fixed his net, and he was a net throwing, shrimp catching machine. He was catching two to our one and he was by himself. Impressive, and had on white boots, to boot. CSB

Are you talking about a braille line? If so, can’t you just reattach with a knot?

Yep, I did but knots get caught in the mesh sometimes.

If you have to trash it - save the weights for jug lines or give them to an old man with jugs.

Speaking of cast nets, what kind do you have and do you like it? I’m trying to find one that is inexpensive but still good. Had a 10’ Calusa once and I loved that net but a stump got it. Is there anything that throws like that at a cheaper price? Any help is appreciated

Cheapest shite I can buy. Catching a Buick gets expensive.

Man do I know the feeling. It’s why I don’t want to invest $200 in a new net

Remove that whole line and use some 80-100 lb mono to replace it. Tie a knot above the line spacer up top, then at the outer cord down below. I’ve done this countless times and net is as good as new.
