I had literally hundreds on each side of my house about a month ago. There is an incesctide called Deamon WP thag works. I picked mine up at Sacks in Gonzales. Comes sealed with 2 packs inside that are water soluble one pack per gallon in a sprayer. Soak all the wood with it and they will all die. It’s slow acting so spraying them directly just piss them off. I found the best time to do this is early morning as the sun is coming up. I tried in the evening as they were going in and after sprayed, they can’t get into the holes and this pissed them off also. With in a week, I had a shite ton of dead bees all over. Not sure how long till you have to re coat but it works. I haven’t seen any since 2 days after I sprayed. shite works for other things like spiders and roaches also.

Family has a few of these hanging around the house. I'm not sure the trap will get all of the bees, but after the summer is over there are about 10 or so bees each trap. Carpenter Bee Trap

Those traps have worked well for me the last several years.

Hardie board siding, don't see them anymore.

At my last house I used a large insect net and killed at least 100 each spring.

My neighbor would get drunk and use a 22 with small shot. It was the first sign of spring.

I have a trap and they work, a few show up in spring, they get caught and the rest of the year 1 will show up from time to time. This is coming from someone who had them everywhere in a porch built with cedar. The traps made me a firm believer.
