That sucks man. I hope you get the bandage thing worked out soon. I'm headed to bed now, got to try and catch some catfish with these boys tomorrow if storms will let up.

these bees are terrified of hornets' nests. next time you find one, just hang it where you DON'T want carpenter bees and they will not come around. they actually sell these fake nests in Bunkie at the hardware store

Broom stick for loads of fun and enjoyment. Works on life skills such as hand eye co-ordination .

Looks good. I used a hole saw to make a 1.5" hole into the jar but as long as they see light at the bottom they should go through.

I put out three of these. Ordered em from Amazon for 10 bucks each without the attractant, or you can get em from Lowes for about 12 bucks each. I used my own attractant recipe: 1 part apple cider vinegar to 1 part of sugar water solution (1/2 cup of sugar to 1 cup of water) and
ONE drop of Dawn Dishwashing liquid. The commercial attractant didn't do squat. I don't recommend buying it. Here's the link for the trap. Works very well, too. At least it does for me. If you can catch the queens, you've got the biggest part of the battle won. LINK

If you want a cheap VERY effective yellow jacket trap, get a 1L coke bottle, pour the coke out but leave about 1 inch of coke in the bottom to act as the attractant, cut the bottle right where the neck fattens out to the bottle width, take cap off, turn cut piece upside down and push securely into the cut part.

I like cheap badminton rackets myself. Lighter and longer.

What are you guys using to repair the damage? I thought about shooting caulk up in the burrows then using wood putty to try and mask it.

Thanks, Crankbait! Wish I had known about that before I dropped 30 bucks on the ones I bought. Gonna try your idea.
