quote:This is where I'm at. I think the concept it pretty dumb - the US doesn't have a CO2 problem and ESG measures are the future death knell of prospering societies. However, our companies cannot continue to operate without bending the knee to ESG, so the dumb concept fits very well here in LA and it is a completely new industry that LA is very well positioned to become the leader in.
I agree that carbon sequestration is a silly as a concept, but if the industry exists and Louisiana can recruit jobs and industry here because of it, why not here?

Tax write offs. Not paying taxes. This means they get a tax break due to the New Green Deal.
Not sure that helps LP. I think LP may get a few dollars as it stands now, but we ain’t talking millions…much less billions.
Ascension gets 73 jobs. So there’s that.

And if this destroys the lake and all the ecosystem around it…you good with that?
Risk vs. reward.
Call me a mouth breather or idiot or whatever.
You can’t sell me this turd.

Learn about the process then try to poke holes in it with logic and fact. Don't be a liberal

I’m as far from liberal as you can get.
I’m not anti O & G. I’m against this green BS.
And I’m not an environmental nut. But goddamn. This is different.
This is our home and there are no 100% guarantees.
And hell yeah, I’m emotional about it.

I’m not saying your concerns aren’t valid but if you have concerns about this, you should have concerns for every offshore platform, every horse head pump, and every plant you see. I promise there are more complex and am more hazardous things going on closer to the water table than this.
You’re not wrong to be concerned, it’s just not different from what we already do. And one could argue that we are better equipped now to tackle something like this than we ever have been technology wise.

Everyone doesn’t want to go green. Liberals and a bunch of clueless so called republicans buy into that crap! The best way to destroy the things that preserve the environment is to inject into it the crap that destroys it.
I’m a right wing conservative who just so happens to also be a landscape contractor. I’m also a land owner who has spent the last 5 years are so working to restore native habitat on our properties. We only use herbicide to deal with foreign invasive species. We use fire and other methods to try to restore the grasslands, prairies and Savannah’s.
Native diversity of habitat takes carbon out of the air and puts it back in the soil for plant use much better than any of these government schemes.

It’s NOT going into caverns. It’s going into the same type formations, 5000’ underground, that Oil and Gas come from. And those leading the opposition are those that want to shutdown the Oil and Gas industry. They were all for CCS to reduce CO2 until they discovered that the petrochemical industry was, now they are against it. The same people shoving solar down our throats, then protesting when huge tracts of agricultural land are bought up and planted with those eyesores. Full on NIMBY’s.
Also, I doubt many people know how many CO2 pipelines are already carrying many tons of CO2 throughout the country as we speak. Safely.
ETA: none of these companies would be doing this if not for the combined push of shareholder pressure (ESG) and government carrots and sticks, regulation requiring it and tax credits to incent it. If folks are really opposed to this, tell Cassidy and your other elected officials to quit pushing the AOC Green agenda down our throats.

I'd prefer we just get the war kicked off already.

When I drive past that area I always make sure my ac is in recirculate mode. Usually around the Denham/Satsuma exit. Was driving through that area about three years ago in the morning and spit my coffee out because of that shite smell.

Cassidy is a paid for WHORE!
What you and I say doesn’t matter to that COWARD!
I will agree that if a person is for solar farms, then shut up about the ecosystem.
Solar farms are an eyesore and they take up some of America’s most fertile lands.
