Got the plans for this SK14 from Boat Builder Central for a 14.5 foot skiff.

It’s a stitch and glue process using marine grade plywood and epoxy resin/fiberglass to hold everything together.

Some specs:

Length: 14’6”
Max Beam: 49”
Hull weight draft: 2”
Max capacity draft: 3”
Hull weight: 120-130 pounds

Here’s some pics of the process:

I’ll drop some more pics in a bit.

What kind of marine plywood did you choose?

1/4” Aquatek Meranti. Meranti and Okoume are great for this as they bend easily. It’s worked well thus far for me. Seems like quality stuff.

Seeing shite like this makes me think I’m not much of a man...but then I just look down at my 9” monster dick.

Btw. You fly fish?

Have you figured out your layout yet?

I’ll have a cooler towards the stern of the boat with straps to tie it down. I’ll use it as a seat and poling platform.

Grab bar and a seat in the middle of the boat. I’ll attach some rod holders to the grab bar.

The forward-most compartment will be dry storage along with the middle compartment immediately behind it. I’ll have a couple hatches to access those.

Looking at a Tohatsu 9.9 HP for it. I’ve read people getting 20-25 MPH with that kind of power on these boats.

I’ll also probably get some sort of U-bolt for both sides to push a stakeout pole through.

Not really sure what else to add besides that. Maybe a small trolling motor down the line?

It’s really not that difficult and doesn’t require much woodworking skills.

I admittedly don’t have much experience with woodworking.

The plans break the process down very well and all you really need is a skill saw.

I don’t fly fish, although watching some videos of people catching reds with a fly rod looks really fun.

I think you got it covered. I think you start making it hard to fish if you have too much stuff attached to a boat that size. Looking forward to seeing the build process!

That’s my thought. More open space the better. There’s not much else that I’ll need anyway.

If a wave comes over the bow it gives a place for the water to flow out.

Gotcha.
I was having a hard time visualizing what this skiff would look like. I googled and found pics of some finished skiffs. Some are pretty cool looking.

Please keep us informed of your progress.

I love watching these things come together. Makes me wish I had just half the patients needed to complete one of these builds. Good job! Thanks for sharing.
