Going in October, anyone have any experience bringing their own shotgun? Rented in the past but would like to shoot mine. Thanks in advance.

It's not a big deal. The only trick is that you have to declare your gun at your first port of entry. So if you fly New Orleans to Toronto and then on to Edmonton. You have to clear customs in Toronto. Which means you miss your flight to Edmonton. If that makes sense. It's totally awkward and illogical. But I would just recommend you fly from a US city directly to wherever you're gonna hunt.

It’s simple. Just make sure you have the ppw filled out correctly when going thru customs.
I’ve had years where they go thru it with a fine toothed comb, other years where they hardly even look at it. Either way it’s not a big deal.

Thanks both for the advice.
Figured you’d have the info, NC. Btw, enjoyed your thread a few weeks back on the DIY deal. We are going with an outfit somewhere outside of Saskatoon, but would love to DIY one day maybe when retired (or sooner if I hit the lotto!) lol

I did it this year and wasn’t an issue. Make sure to have your paperwork from US Customs that verifies you own the gun before you left so you can bring it back into the US when returning. Had to take it to a local US Customs office before the trip to get that. However, nobody even checked it coming back…
They also require trigger locks and the gun to be cased at all times when not in use and even has to be cased when walking to field prior to legal shooting hours.
