Looking to go out of the sound this weekend. Any of you fellas fished out there lately? Trying to get a report before I make the run and chance not fishing around the rocks.

Run out there. It's only a 30 minute run. If not run back through the locks and fish the rocks

My neighbor went south of Breton Isle last week and caught snapper, tuna and Yellowtail (or was it yellowfin?).
If my son hadn't had an engagement crawfish boil I'd have been out there.....

Fished the islands this past weekend and it was poor. Had a 4 man crew and fished from sun up to sun down nearly and caught less than 20 as a group. Water was pretty and weather was perfect just no fish.

I caught a couple mule trout off Grand Gosier this past weekend. Nice trout, just not too many. But you can hit the rocks on the way back in.

They were north side of gg between shore and sandbar.

More like inconsistent from what I could tell. My best trout trip was on gossier year before last. However, my last two trips have been sub par.

Damn. Tough crowd. The islands have been very good to us. Consistently excellent fishing.

Hit GG and Breton Saturday. Caught one trout on outside of Breton. The cove had river water. Saw a few trout caught by wade fisherman. If there's good water, there's usually fish in the cove. Rigs in the area were holding big trout

Glad to hear it. Have you been using live bait out there or wade fishing with plastic?

Wade fishing and/or poling the flats in a skiff with fly gear. No live bait. No plastics.

For what it's worth, we don't target trout unless we can sight cast them. So my definition of excellent fishing might be different than yours. We never have any problems finding redfish and pompano during the summer.

Yea slightly different but thats awesome fishing too. Each to their own.

I've never caught pompano in the summer. I thought they were a late winter time fish around shallow rigs. At any rate, keep at it. Sounds like you have them figured out.
