I decided to give braided line a try. Bought some(stuffs pricey), put it on my rod and its like the lines slipping on the spoon or something. Casts fine theres just no drag. A fish would run all my line out in a second. Im 100% sure its not the reel. WTF did I do wrong?

The line is to loose on your reel, so it is just unwinding when you have a fish on and not using the drag.

You also need to have a mono backing on your spool first, and then put your braid on top of the mono, it gives the braid something to dig into.

Depends on the reel. If there's no tie point, some reels require a backing. Just spool some mono on it and then tie a double uni-knot to splice in the braid.LINK

A palamor (sp???) knot works well. Idk how to explain it, but it's very easy to tie and holds well. Google should be able to teach you.

A palamor

i sometimes use that knot. i will try it with braid. i just find braid is hard to tie compared to mono or flouro

It is definitely harder to tie than mono. A Palamor knot is not that hard to tie though, it's easier with braid than mono.

thanks.

one problem i might have is the braided line i use is usually on my ultra lights. that small size probably makes a difference.

It does, but I find the small braid is alot easier to tie than the big stuff. You'll love the shite once you get used to it. You can use that shite for anchor rope.
