Bought My Thermal Scope

Thanks for all the advice. I bought the AGM Rathler V2 25-320 and I love it. Went out last night and it’s amazing what I’ve been missing.

The higher resolution scopes are really nice, but the 320 is all I really need.

Love my AGM. Battery life is great. We usually have an old ipad sitting between us that is connected to the scope. With the rifle in a tripod grip, we just scan and wait for hogs to show up on the ipad. Makes it very easy.

Have you had to update yours any? Some people have mentioned downloading updates is why I’m asking.

Can you get some pictures from it? I have the AGM TM25-384 monocle and have not been impressed.

I have not. I checked mine when i got it in January, and it was running whatever the current version was then. I have not checked since.

I just bought the same one, and my buddy bought the RIX Storm S2. I will say the RIX is very nice. I'm sort of having buyers remorse over the AGM. but that's just initial opinion. unboxing, mounting, link to apps and sighting in. Probably put 10 rounds through each of our rifles. will see how they compare over time.

those are both screenshots from the video on my phone. It is a little clearer than that looking into the scope.

You have to get really close to get that image. I think I spent around 6k for my thermal a few years ago and still can’t figure out what shite is a few hundred yards away.

Damn. I've been wanting to go thermal but i need to be able to tell the difference between a pig, a calf and my SIL's stupid arse dog.

thermal ID depends on two main things, scope resolution and time behind the scope.
This is why i stress buying a quality optic. Any scope will look "good" at 60 yds in the right conditions.
if you're starting out with 256 resolution, you have nothing left once you start zooming. ID becomes very hard.
- you half the resolution when you double the zoom.
I've been thermal hunting weekly for 6 years. With my helmet mounted monocular with a 1x base i can ID out to 600-700yds. Now this is a 640 resolution quality optic that i have 100s of hours behind
I run a 1024 resolution scope with a 2.5x basemag. I can Id out to 1000 yds no problem
a higher base mag or higher resolution optic allows you to ID further. I demoed 640 resolution 4x power scopes and felt like 1000 yds ID was no problem at all.
Also, regardless of resolution a 12 micron sensor will retain pixels better when zooming than a 17 micron sensor.

i ran that thermion 2 XP60 for years. Its one of the best 640 scopes out there. It is a 17 micron so the zoomed image was lacking. A few hundred yards should be no issue for that scope

First pic was 40- 50 yards, second was closer to 100. You can safely id animals out to 150-200 yards no problem with this scope.

Yeah no doubt you can. On the original thread I said this scope would be fine for shots out to 150. Past that would get difficult to ID

No doubt. Old Man's original post was asking about lower priced thermals, and I suggested the 320 agm. I knew that it would do everything he wanted without breaking the bank.
