I recently bought a 16' Procraft bay boat. I normally use it at my wife's parent's fishing camp in Montegut. I didn't feel like making the drive down this weekend after work and wanted to take it out some where close to home mostly just to run it and maybe fish on Saturday.

I was wonder what would be a good place to launch for a beginner. I know Laketown in Kenner is probable the closest to my house. Also, what time of the day would be best to avoid crowds? I don't want to be one of those people that holds up lines for everyone else trying to fish.

Peavine Launch. You'd be launching behind a protected seawall right into Lake Pontchartrain.

quote:

From Laplace north on US 51 under elevated I-10, 2.2 miles north from I-10, turn east at boat launch sign at end of Peavine Rd.

BTW, the restaurant next to the launch has good food.
