Living in S Louisiana I'm not even sure I really know what seasoned wood is. My shite always smokes and takes forever to get going.

I like some green wood after I get my fire going good. Burns slow and hit. Evangeline oak is my fav. I only burn outside though.

Amen brother. The stuff I got last year was less likely to rot than Yellowwood. Made them come get it and bring me something that would burn.

I got some in Alexandria last year that was delivered as seasoned. They had a gallon of water in each piece, they didn't smoke when burned, they steamed.

I don’t buy anymore since I drop my own trees but I’ve sent wood back more than once because it was green after being told over the phone it wasn’t. Anyone should be able to look at it and tell and certainly smell it and lift it as seasoned is lighter. But when you buy it you have to be there when it is delivered because once they drop it it’s yours.
I did stop in the garden district a few weeks ago and a tree company gave me a dozen big live oak logs that I dumped on my pile in the country. I’ll burn them next year, good big backlogs.
