Is “seasoned firewood”.

What some baws are calling seasoned firewood in Baton Rouge should be criminal.

I use a wood burning stove at the house in Oklahoma. Luckily I cut and split my own firewood because the stuff being sold around there is either half rotten or green.

are you buying from store or from someone off craigslist or marketplace?

anything from the store (gas station, lowes, etc) is complete shite. I thought i found a brand at lowes that looked promising, nope!! garbage.

DU does NOT put nets up in Arkansas or flood corn fields to keep mallards from coming to Louisiana

Same here. You can find better prices in the rural areas but it’s still green. I split close to a cord this past weekend off a oak that fell by the camp.

I've gotten in the habit of keeping at least half a cord of wood from the previous winter. Buy another cord in the fall and burn green wood when I get a good bed of coals going.

Yep. gotta plan a year in advance to have dry wood. I'm currently in same situation. I'm rationing seasoned wood so I have some for Christmas morning. it's ridiculous.

...I've never understood this.

I only cut up downed trees. It's wet when I split it in August and it burns fine all winter. Hissing or not...

I meant I don't get the seasoning issue.

How long does it take to truly dry out?

I will buy firewood no later than April to burn next year.

I don’t trust these tool bags around the north shore. What I’m burning now was delivered to me in Dec of last year. He said it was seasoned. I could smell it in the back of his truck and tell he was full of it.
