Best sunglasses for protecting your eyes?

I've always worn Costa Del Mars when around or on the water, but sometimes I sport Ray Bans when in the city.
Are Maui Jim's that superior to Costas?
What are the best sunglasses out there to protect my eyes / while on the coast / water?

Protect from what? Sun?
Jims or AO aviators.
From everything?
Bobsters.

I have costa’s, Maui Jim’s, and Smith’s with the chromapop lenses. Ive never worn shades with superior lenses than 580G costas.
Every baw has one now so they aren’t as “cool” or “exclusive” as they used to be, but I still reach for the costas on bright days. I like the Maui’s or Smiths better for overcast conditions.

Same here. I have the Costa Zane with green 580G lenses. They are the best that I have worn, but was still seeing what else is out there. Guess I'll stick with my Costas.
Thanks!

Skeleton optics is a newer outfit out of Florida I want to say that make some cool glasses using the Zeiss lenses. They probably are not as fancy as Maui's but a good glass none the less.

I think once you get to the Costa/Maui Jim level they're all great.

In my opinion the green 580 Costas are the best lenses. The don't "darken" everything and still provide really good protection. Just my .02

Wear a pair of $60 AOs and then wear a pair of Maui Jim's, you'll be surprised.

Maui Jim’s are better than Costa’s, in my experience.
I have Maui Jim’s and a friend had Costa’s that were a similar looking style. I didn’t feel like his were the same quality as mine from the start, but over time, his lenses started fading and cracking. Mine have more flex in the ear pieces so there’s not near the stress on the lense. He bought a pair of Maui Jim’s after that.
Just my first hand experience.
