I will need quite a few 1x6x8 pine fence pickets and figure there has to be a more cost effective place to get them in bulk than Lowe's or Home Depot.

I bought 400 of them last year from Stein in Walker last year. Few cents cheaper per.

If it’s just fence boards you need Lowe’s and Home Depot usually can’t be beat. They sell the fence boards as a loss leader item. Now the post and concrete can be found cheaper from a local lumber yard.

Not sure about the 8 footers, but the 6 footers go on sale every couple of months at the big box stores. Got 6 footers for 1.25 a piece last year, usually 1.60.

My local lumber yard delivers free of charge for any order over $100, it's pretty damn awesome. Many do. Lowes and Hd are usually like $80 I believe but it's been awhile. With a whole pallet it would still add up, but just something to keep in mind when placing a large order like that. Having it dropped off by forklift or whatever is a hell of a lot easier then unloading a truck by hand.
