Looking to buy a new shotgun. What's the best semi auto shotgun for the money. I already own a benelli super nova fwiw.

For the money? Probably the 1187.

If you like the Benelli, you probably wanna stick with it and get the SBEII.

I'm a big fan of the Browning Maxus.

Can't go wrong with any of the triple B's.

I hear the Franchi is a pretty good shotgun.

I'd prefer one of the "B's"

I bought an I12 2 years ago and it's a workhorse, went from a B80 to A5 to I12 and this gun is the lightest tightest grouping gun I've shot. Same factory as one of the Bs

I still use my B-80 I bought in 1982 instead of the Auto 5. Kinda wish I had bought the A5 but I've had more than good service out of the B-80...which is a Beretta anyway

Do any of you find an advantage using the semi auto compared to the pump?

Stoeger 3000 or 3500

Benelli action with a different name and wayyyyyy different price.

The ergonomics are not quite as good as the benelli, but you won't know better if you don't shoot a monterfeltro

Eta: if you don't want to pay for a benelli the stoeger is as good as you can do. Better gun than the maxus.

In the sequence of shooting, it's just one less variable. Less variability...better shooting IMO.

So, yes, I think the auto is better. You don't risk short shuckin it and your muzzle jump from recoil is the only thing keeping you from getting back on target...
