255/60R18 small tires for a pathfinder....not a pickup.

I drive 40000 miles or more a year, but still want to use this to get past my buddy's creek in the mountains. I have had to keep recovery boards that work just fine to get up a steep, wet angle off the creek.

What is a good tire for mostly highway but has some off road capability?

There's quite a few in this area to choose from, Toyo open country AT3, Falken wildpeak AT3, I have the wildpeaks on an 18 4runner and they ride good, some noise, I have the toyo's on a 2000 4runner and they are quieter, although it is a lighter vehicle.

I had a set of Falken AT3s that did very well.
Now, I have Cooper AT3s, they are a little less aggressive, but I think they ride a little better and less noise.

Going to put these on my son's Xterra. Seem to be the best balance between tread life and performance. If they ride well, I'll put them on my wife's Armada, too.

Those look really aggressive. What about ride on the highway?

EDIT: Main drawback I see is 65k miles for the Toyo versus 50k miles for the Goodyear. Toyo clocks in at $188/tire whereas the Goodyear is $225.

Don't but passenger tires on the xterra.

C or E rated if you jump to 285s.

My last set was at almost 100k and one of them is now a spare for the new set.

Idk if its true, but ive seen a few threads on f150forum of people getting the at3 and complaining about them humming too loud for an a/t and they went back to their falkens or whatever tire they have prior. Humming wouldn't bother me though.

FWIW: 2nd the Duratracs

I guess I'm bias idk. Friend of mine suggested them years ago. I have had them on three different full size 4x4's, on my 4th set. Again don't have anything to compare them to but they are quiet (not the kevlar version) on the highway clean out easily in thick mud and grip really well on rocky terrain. Tread life is hard to beat as well. I also have a Polaris Ranger w/32" Maxxis Rampages purchased because the tread pattern on them is very similar to the Goodyear Duratrac, not disapointed.
